Is there a way to get EchoIRLP to announce the
callsign of the person connecting and disconnecting, just as there is
on the Echolink software for Windows. Typically says "K0GDI Connected" or "K0GDI
Disconnected
Yes, there is an option to turn this behaviour on. I'd have to fish through my echo_environment file to get the right environment variable to set. I've had this option turned on my system for so long I've forgotten how I turned it on (and I wrote the stuff! :D ).
Yep, I found it. Here's the relevant section of my echo_environment. :)
# <Say Node Number>
# This variable determines if the node number is spoken after the
# standard Connect to EchoLink message is played.
export ECHO_SAY_NODE=CALLSIGN
I think the valid options here are:
NO - doesn't announce who is connected
YES - announces node number of remote node
CALLSIGN - announces callsign of connected station.
Note that announcements only happen for the first connected node and last disconnected node. This was a design decision at the time to minimise disruption to QSOs in progress, and would take modification of the scripts to change.
.... Rehab is for quitters.
