Can I use the Syncronet mail package/BBS as a point system?

Also, the last time I set up syncronet I found a whole bunch of activity in my monitoring screen. I would be trying to set it up as a closed system.

How do I tell if that is normal?

I can just run the install and see what happen

Can I use the Syncronet mail package/BBS as a point system?

What do you mean? What specifically are you trying to do?

Also, the last time I set up syncronet I found a whole bunch of activity in my monitoring screen. I would be trying to set it up as a closed system.

What kind of activity? You mean bots trying to login? If so, don't worry about it... just keep enough nodes open to cover 1-2 timeout/file logins from bots at any given time.

Someone else will probably chime in and tell you to move the BBS to nonstandard ports to reduce the noise from bots. They're dumb. :)

    a closed system.

Less bad for a closed system to do it, though, so there's that. You need to know the magic port number and the new user password!

It could be used, but since there aren't external message readers that read Synchronet's message base format (as far as I can tell) you'd be using a
whole BBS as a single-user system.

I'd think you'd be better off with either a dedicated system like WinPoint,
or the last time I ran a point, I used Maximus as a BBS, with Squish as a tosser. I took my config over to a new system, removed the BBS, left the mailer and used Timed to read the Squish message bases. Even that's
    overkill.

... How would someone else do it?

The new user password can only be determined by reading some QAnon manifesto stuff. :)

    You mean FTN point? Yes.

Also, the last time I set up syncronet I found a whole bunch of activity in my monitoring screen. I would be trying to set it up as a closed system.

How do I tell if that is normal?

Most likely normal, but I'm just guessing with out any detail provided.

I can just run the install and see what happen

    Or that. :-)
