I scan SYNCDATA for new boards. I thought it was a reasonable question.

that's kinda stupid when you can just use this http://synchro.net/Synchronet/syncterm.lst
i'm assuming you are grabbing the entries for your site?

Sorry, I'm not trying to be hostile, Nightfox just has a way of being a bit of a scold, reminds me a little of Greta Thunberg.

As you can see, people didn't read it as a real question... They read it as passively aggressively saying that you don't want him to post there so often.
MRO is right. Syncdata is for inter-bbs communication. It's for tools to communicate, not really for people.
So the expectation would be to use something like the synclist door and sort by
created or updated. I mean, you can do what you want, but unless it's breaking something technically, there's nothing wrong with posting data to that sub at a pace that human user wouldn't like to read.

or even better, http://synchro.net/Synchronet/sbbslist.json (contains a lot more detail about each BBS entry)

Those are great options, but I find it easier to just scroll through the messages in SYNCDATA with a newsreader looking for new posts.
I have scripts to automate things, I just enjoy "discovering" new sites
more manually as well.

See, this is what I mean when I say you're artistic. Where other people see a scold, you see only passionate creative expression.

well i dont think you can complain though, because it's a non human area. that area isnt even listed on vert for humans.
i'd complain if he was adding a lot of FILESIZE to the area. like he was using it for file sharing and distribution.

dr> Wow. A simple question greeted with mild hostility.
The wording maybe didn't come off the way you intended. Looked more like a complaint than a simple question.
dr> I scan SYNCDATA for new boards. I thought it was a reasonable question.
Explaining this up front might have helped.
Reading SYNCDATA directly with your eyeballs is not recommended, and it's not reasonable to ask anybody to keep human readers in mind when posting there.
If the BBS lister that you're using doesn't have a "new listings since x date" feature, perhaps one could be added. That's much more in line with how the sub and its contents are meant to be used.

Folks sure are reading a lot of stuff in my original message that
doesn't actually appear on the page. I'll try to be more careful in the future.

You know that old saying, "It's not me with the problem, it's everyone else?"
There's something about the way that you wrote it. Written words have no tone. Just add a smiley to the end of everything and then you're fine.
