I know this isn't technically a Synchro question, but it is. Has anyone tried to install Tradewars2 in Synchro? I got it working, it just doesn't take keyboard input from either the user or the console side.. Anyone run into something like this with any doors?? Thanks in advance..
I installed it a few years ago and it works fine on my BBS.

Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but this is not the .json file, it is the original DOS version...

Pasting your SCFG (and any other) configuration settings here could be helpful. --

post your configuration settings.
You have to enable Console mode, as version 2 doesn't have fossil
driver support. At times, it can run slow, like Complete New World, but its playable.

The config files for the game look to be compiled after filling out the info. As for SCFG, I have the startup directory as the TW21 Directory, the startup command as tw2.exe /D /P:C:\SBBS\XTRN\TW21\door.sys
Drop File GAP door.sys and the Drop file in the startup directory.
Other then that, it is pretty straight forward.. Thanks for any info you might be able to shed..

Re: Re: Tradewars 2Ok I give... Where in the heck is my scfg?? I have looked in every directory for a scfg.ini or anything like that, all I can find is the scfg.exe..Sorry for seeming so stupid.. Just kind of lost here..

There are a few other settings in SCFG for door games that are important to getting a door game to work. Copy and *pasting* (like I said), the actual settings from SCFG into a post here could be helpful.
Also, see here:

I'm exerimenting to see if I can just disable the FOSSIL driver for a specific external program in SBBS/SCFG and seeing if that'll force TW2 to then use the COM/UART (which is also virtualized in the same FOSSIL driver, but it's a different interface to the program) and see if I get different results. I'm gusesing it's just a bug in the tw2 FOSSIL support, but don't know for sure yet. I'll get back to ya.

i think he can get it working with netfoss, but i dont think the game is worth it.
From the tw2.doc files I located (v11.14 and v11.20), both say "Support for FOSSIL communication drivers."
What release of TradeWars 2 are you referring to?

SCFG is the Synchronet configuration program. You can copy and paste settings from it here, like this:
Name tw2test
Internal Code TW2TEST
Start-up Directory ../xtrn/tw2_1120
Command Line tw2 /P:%f
Clean-up Command Line
Execution Cost None
Access Requirements
Execution Requirements
Multiple Concurrent Users Yes
Intercept I/O No
Native Executable/Script No
Use Shell or New Context No
Modify User Data No
i think he can get it working with netfoss, but i dont think the game is worth it.

Got it, no use continuing this, I am thinking it's just not worth it.. The JSON version is fine..

I want to say Wide Beta 7. When I went to option O in TEDIT, it didn't show anything with fossil driver support.

I looked, and there was NOTHING in the documentation about fossil support.
What is a FOSSIL driver? A FOSSIL driver is a device driver
loaded into your computers memory when it boots up. Usually
in your CONFIG.SYS file. It is a standardized way for
programs to interface to your communications port.
Same for release 11.14 from 1992. Maybe you should update your copy of tw2? --

If there is a wide beta 8 of Trade Wars 2002 version 2, I'd like to obtain it.
I did see a message on Facebook about a new version of Trade Wars 2002 Game Server by John Pritchett (I don't recall his exact name), and I think it was in the Telnet BBS Guide group. I'll defer to admin Dave Perussel on that.
I was just looking to add another Tradewars
It gave me some ideas, so maybe I can get it working after all.
Well if anyone can, that would be you.. :)
Ah, and so I did. :-)

It looks that way. I hate to start a new game, though...but it'd be
easier with a fossil driver.
What year was the version of the game that *you're* playing, released?
Rob,

The date on the main executable is Sept. 20, 1995. It's version 2, wide beta 8.
Does your door game or documentation say "2002"? If yes, that's not the game we're discussing. --

It's the original game from Martech Software.
