Ugh, I'm struggling with XBin files at the moment. I'd like to put together something like the sweet demo DM has on Vertrauen, but since there's several steps I'm not sure where it's going wrong.
I've taken an image, reduced it to a 2-color png and exported it. I then ran that through an online png->bmp convertor, because Affinity Photo apparently won't do BMP files.
I ran jsexec xbimage create /sbbs/exec/infile.bmp and it created two files, and said the third was too large.
I then run a script of
?xbimage show /sbbs/exec/infile.16.xb
during logon event. It shows .... something that's vaguely the same shape, but looks like random non-ascii gibberish.
As I said, there's so many places an error could creep in and I'm not sure where to start looking. The conversion to bmp might have gone wrong (it displayed okay on my windows pc though), I might be missing a step with the show command, etc.
Who out there has gotten it working and has any tips? The resulting file is at http://deepthaw.net/bbs_downloads/posse.16.xb if somebody else wants to tell me if it is corrupt or something.

That can happen easily depending on the size and complexity of the image.
I then run a script of
?xbimage show /sbbs/exec/infile.16.xb
during logon event. It shows .... something that's vaguely the same shape, but looks like random non-ascii gibberish.
Are you logging-in/viewing with SyncTERM? What version?

I'll try it here and let you know.
Yeah, looks like garbage here too. So something went wrong in the conversion process. Was it a 2-color BMP?
