I do recall you mentioning Synchronet is now 80 mb? Wow! It's surely growing majorly over the decades now.

Yeah, I think it's actually less than that (60-70MB), but a lot of that is 3rd party content. I don't really care how big or small an install of it is, within reason. I used to pride myself on how small an install was (or could be), but don't care much these days.

I also recalling you saying that you can update straight from Synchronet. No more dev or run zips anymore to d/l?

No, that's what I was explaining. I mereing explaining that the SBBSCTRL:File->Run->Update menu option can be used in place of running "jsexec update" from a command-line. You'd still have to download and extract any dev-update zip files by hand before that.

Then on to my next question then, how about an option on Synchronet Control Panel to download updates from the GitHub automatically? I think that a lot of Sysops would love that one.
Hey Rob.
Just a quick note to say well done on the recent video :)
I had a wee look at it last night and think you did a great job.

Thanks! Your videos were an inspiration, for sure!
And going through the demo/recording process is a great way to validate that everything works and record the results for later
review/improvement. I think it's a great tool.
Do you even make videos anymore?

I agree it does make you think as you record them what to include and what not to etc. I plan to do some more to update what I have done. Not just yet but there are plans to do so. I have some stuff to sort with my own setups etc. first. Just wish there were more spare hours in the day without the demands of daily life so I had time to play :)

It might be a little different for me since I'm demoing something I wrote and thus have strong thoughts on how it's supposed to behave. And when I'm making a video and the software doesn't behave as I expect, I make a note of it and then (usually) go back and improve/fix the software to behave better next time. Earlier this year I made a video on setting up FidoNet with Synchronet and I was surprised it was still as difficult as it was and I discovered a number of bugs in the process as well. It was an eye-opener. So yeah, videos from now on. :-)

But that said, sounds like you've found a useful tool for development, as well as documentation.

The videos aren't a replacement for the documentation/wiki, just a supplement. I would never fault a sysop for not watching videos as a
means of instruction.

Fair enough, but there is a pause function on the media player.

Actually, I think the video's are great.
While wiki's are great to find out how to do something you want to do,
the videos give you a perspective of how somebody else does something
and sometimes that is attractive/useful/insightful. IE: "I didnt
realise I could do that..." moments.
