Hello all,
I'm sure I've done it in the past, but is there a reasonably straightforward way to reorder the msgs in a msgbase by age? I have one area where the message ordering is all kinds of out of whack.

Usually messages are time and date stamped to be put in order automatically to read in sequence.

The message are stored in the message bases (data/subs/*.shd) in the order in which they were received/imported. If a user wants to *view* the messages in a different sort-order (e.g. by date/time written), that can be achieved by using a fancy message readers like Nightfox's mode or even http://wiki.synchro.net/module:msglist

That doesn't change the way the messages are stored in the message base, just the order in which they are displayed to a particular user.

that shouldnt be like that. delete your data files, login to vert using your qwk acct and change pointer dates and then have your bbs poll vert.

It's not a DOVEnet area. It was a hub in another net that I got a whole schwack of out of order messages from, so deleting and doing a rescan from them will likely result in the same state of things.

that's strange. i used to be a member of a lot of msg nets and i never had that problem. there's a guy in here who dumps old msgs in here about once a year when he changes bbs software. it doesnt get caught because he adds extra txt to the posts.

Yeah, first time here too. It does look like the majority of the really out of whack stuff is older and just got brought to the top of the stack so to speak for some reason, so I might just back things up and do a trim by age.
