Wiki edit of http://wiki.synchro.net/wiki:site_notice by digital man: switching to git
I imagine people who currently have access to the CVS will have access to the Git repos?
Everyone has read-access. Write-access to a non-master branch can be done by anyone (that creates an account at gitlab.synchro.net).
Do you know what process you'd recommend for making commits, or is that still up in the air?
I think you'd fork it to a personal branch (on gitlab.synchro.net) and when you're ready to commit to master, submit a merge request.
With Git, it seems it's common practice for developers
to make a branch off the master and make their changes in the branch, then commit, push, and merge their brnach back into master. I'm curious if you're planning do recommend doing that, or just having all work done in the master branch?
Only maintainers can commit to sbbs/master, so yeah, other commiters will need to submit a merge request like you described.
