Is anyone watching Star Trek: Discovery season 5?
I watched the first two episodes. I'm not hooked on this season yet, Burnham seems like they're tailoring her character for Rayner to be a foil for her.
I hadn't thought about that.
I suppose I really like Strange New Worlds and am judging Discovery against it.
Strange New Worlds started after season 2 of Discovery. I thought it was interesting how they did that. I do like Strange New Worlds, and I feel like it's probably the best Star Trek series these days, even though I am tired of all the pre-Kirk sequels and reboots (JJ Abrams movies) they've done with Star Trek.
I think partly, I don't like 32nd century tech. I like the old-school feel of SNW.
I liked the technology they had in The Next Generation, with the holodeck and replicators. Since The Next Generation came out, I sometimes wonder where they got food and beverages before replicators. But in series set earlier (such as Enterprise), I think they had mentioned matter synthesizers or something similar.
