So, my main takeaway is 'too much, too late'. That's not to say that I didn't really enjoy it. As I've already mentioned on here, it was *much* better than either the first or the second (!) season. Having said that,
I do kind of wish that what we were given in season three had been
spread out across all three seasons. At a certain point, you start to
feel inundated with cameos, callbacks, and homages.
I think the effort to have a fan focused farewell to the TNG (and other shows) cast was certainly well received. I'm not sure it could have sustained three seasons but it did confirm an appetite for a type/style
of Trek that fans would be happy to see (and perhaps may will do down
the line) again. :)
Yeah, I wasn't really advocating three seasons of what we got, but more three seasons of something between what we got in season one and what we got in season three. But again, I really enjoyed season three and I'm
glad it went out that way, rather than continuing down the 'season two' path.
