Not really sure what point that the makes the BBS a bit of an "old
timer", but not sure how long I expected it to wind up being.
The same as in the old days.
It has to do with community and the sysop's passion for BBSing.
Sysops that just let their board sit and don't actively get involved with it will find that most people just stop calling.
Today it's even worse. Back in dialup days, you were limited to the BBSs you could call in your local area (unless you really enjoyed those Long Distance charges). Today, I can "call" a BBS on the other side of the planet as
quickly and cheaply as the BBS down the street.
So you need to have a callable BBS not only for your area, but for the world.
