Well this week is going to be a little bitter sweet. This last 43 years
I have dedicated my life to two carriers. After turning 18, I spent the next 21 years serving with the US Navy. Then spent the next 22 years in the Technology industry. I do believe at 43 years, it is time to call
it quits and retire.
Both Navy and the technology industry have been fortunate to have your input, hard work and involvement with them :)
So, this week I am going to file my intent to retire and begin to look
and hire a replacement. I am giving myself until 12/31 and that is it...
I am finished.
At my age I am finding it hard to even get motivated any more and
working along side of folks 1/2 my age with the work ethics I simply
just don't agree with, its just time to move on.
I think if you do anything for a very long time similar feelings can likely arise. Eating candy and drinking beer aside... just saying.
As far as the BBS .... I started this BBS with WWIV in 1992 and setting aside about 10 years of not online, I have had one all these years. It
is not my intention to retreat from the BBS, however, periods of auto pilot is a real possibility.
Take a break from it if you need to / want to but the thing I like about this hobby is you can put it down and pick it up again as/when you wish... and I can attest how there are some systems around certainly on auto pilot, thankfully not all but at least the software works :)
Maybe I can be a Walmart greeter with a Walter Puppet on my lap!
I hope the coming year brings some new perspectives and enjoyable times ahead for you Ricky.
Best, Paul
