We could consume classic books and movies no end and our lives would not be enough to consume all of the good material. We only consume new stuff because it loks more shinny and has more marketing power behind it.
I'd argue that the magic of new content is how people take existing ideas and make it better. Like, long-running series building on the world, callbacks, subverting expectations <IN A CLEVER WAY>, etc.
