If you opt to retain the retired echomail areas on your BBS for posterity after 10 May 2023 that is your call, but please ensure they are set as 'read only' for your users.
Of all the echomail areas I've encounted in my travels, these were the most.... human. Play me out Scotty.
Sorry, I haven't gotten much sleep and I'm a bit loopy. I look forward
to these changes.

Gents, it's likely my OCD and the desire to keep tags simple/short... so that's where I have landed.

_ really dslke these short area names, some are confusng. _ENG for
English, _CRY for Crying? _LFE for Low Frequency Effects (the .1 in
5.1 Surround)? My brain always refuses to automatically associate the
right word (Enigma, Cryptography, Life) with these weird
abbreviations. It's not simple , it's more complicated than just using
the non-abbreviated word. Also having everything in the same length
makes it a bit harder to distinguish. Variations in length is a good
thing for pattern matching.
But that is just my opinion ;). I'm not saying you are wrong (or I am right).

infopack vs an (up to) 8 character tag.

Just a head's up: FTN echo-tags (area tags) can be much longer than 8 characters: as long as 50 characters (for Mystic and FMail) while some software may be limited to 35 character tags, but there's no defined FTN standard maximum length that I've been able to locate.
Do we have to request it, or will it be automatically added to everyone's feeds?
