I dont think it is.
I'm getting bad password when I poll... :(

I'm setting up my bbs, I've applied to 5 nets but only received two responses. I'm wondering if most of them are just on auto until the pc
goes up in smoke and that's that.

I am not sure. I assumed not but then realized my connections were
not working. I heard someone else mention that it was back again. It
may be dead.

I think its about time I go thru and check my logs for FTN issues...
RetroNet had been slow, but Necromaster had recently talked about
whipping it, and his others, into shape... hmmmm.
Thanks for posting that you're having Retro issues currently too.

I polled retronet fine.

Frank didn't shut it down, he went MIA again for the second time.
I wanted to join that net but I can't connect to https://scinet-ftn.org/
I've sent Avon a couple of emails, but I think he must be busy IRL. I applied to micronet but haven't heard anything yet. I've got FidoNet, HobbyNet, and AgoraNet set up, I'm not sure what other nets are active
or I should apply for.
I've sent Avon a few emails about interbbs games but haven't heard back. Typically he's quick to reply so I think it's probably life getting in
the way. Hopefully he responds to us both before long.

Hope he's ok then! Maybe he's won lotto and cruising around the bahamas
on his luxury yacht!
ditto apologies from me on this count, the inter-bbs stuff is next on my to-do list but that will likely be middle of the week... after sorting some new node applications out tonight (for which I remain grateful of
the continued interest in fsxNet) I'm going to make sure I get some Netflix time tonight too.... been watching the Night Agent and got
hooked :)
How's things with you? Keeping well I trust? Nice to see you active and still doing the BBS thing.

Any ideas for good nets other than what i've joined so far?
I figured you were busy, no sweat bud, wasn't trying to publicly shame
you or anything ;) you've done much for this network and have been consistently supportive every step of the way. I appreciate all you've done, no rush, glad to hear back though!
Yeah, experimenting with some more obscure BBS stuff of late, enjoying myself haha. Hope all is well with you!

Hi toofargone,
What is the focus of your system? Some nets are general in nature, and
That's all fine and all that, but not when someone applies to join and get's crickets back.
Who is supposedly running the network, and how does one contact them?

The only other net that's worth a look is MicroNet. It has sporadic traffic, and sometimes a little better than that.
I've been working on a fish pond that's been leaking and to be honest
have not been as busy in the geek space as I have been but I think as we move into winter here I'll get more active again :)

I had MicroNet for a while, I think sporadic is being pretty
generous. In the time I had it, it had a brief spurt and then
pretty much nothing aside from the odd post.

I *believe* Necromancer from Necrominom BBS. And IIRC, he was
*recently* mentioning wanting to get more active will all his FTNs.

Really just focusing on message nets at the moment. I've got to learn
to customize the bbs. I might try to add a game or two but, I'd just
like to keep nets going at this stage :)

When I was a kid, I remember calling into a BBS that basically had
nothing new on it, over time, and then talking with others, imagining
some scenario where someone had stashed the computer away in a closet,
and it'd keep running until the computer failed.
There have been boards that ran on auto-pilot after the sysop passed
away. It wasn't until the family started sorting through the estate that they found a beige box in the corner plugged into a phone line.

These two combined may perhaps create a perfect match, but I think creating interesting UX is something more important to attract regular consumers to reconnect. At least this is what turns me on to come back
to my favorite places.
I like both. sbbs def has more to it. Mystic is simplier. I like seeing different boards, and people running other stuff.
Freepascal is my choice though, so Mystic is awesome! I like Enigma as well.

Mystic is my choice as well but more because it w0rks more like the Telegard/Renegade bbSes that I started out running...
The fact that Mystic has MPL (and Python 2/3) that is so close to FreePascal is a nice addition and lets me do a lot m0re than I could in the early 9os.
