I don't have a clear idea on where everyone lives or where the storms
hit, but hopefully no one was particularly affected by the storm that
hit New Zealand.
I'm still finding it odd, because I view New Zealand as being more Antarctic-impacted than tropical-storm-impacted.

Replying to myself, but it was a cyclone, not a typhoon.
Obviously, the difference between a hurricane, cyclone, and typhoon is entirely about where one is, rather than what the storm is doing. But, still, I'd prefer to use the correct term.

I'm fortunate I'm well away from it but the TV pictures look grim.

See, this is where I got mixed up -- I thought New Zealand started
about as far south as, oh, New York is, north, if not closer to the
pole.
But the south pacific / south Indian ocean area is... vast.
I'm fortunate I'm well away from it but the TV pictures look grim.
I'm glad -- I was kind of wondering if it was going to be impacting a flight of yours, too, though obviously that pales in comparison to the death and destruction for those living in the areas.
