Is there something you think you could do with a newer machine
that you cannot do with your current system? If so, then yeah.
    If not, then why bother?

my idea was to buy a 9060 xt and a 750 watt power supply and just weather it out for the next 18 months.

Unfortunately I feel that this is going to be the case for quite some time. If you are in need of a new PC I would say yes, as prices may continue to go up. I feel it may take a couple of years to come back down.

I have a 9th generation i7 with 64 GB of RAM and an NVMe slot -
I'm planning on this holding me over for some time.

    My opinion is "no."

I mean, the price scalation is affecting comparatively recent hardware. If you have hardware that works for you *now* I don't think there is a reason for you to upgrade, specially considering the videogame market is in the process of crashing hard this year so I don't expact game requirements to skyrocket.

If your concern is you won't be able to replace your computer when your actual one gets done for, I am sure you will be able to buy a used one for peanuts by the time that happens.

I have windows desktop, mac laptop and windows laptop. I think I can survive two years at least. If worse comes to worse i'll need to take a 2-3 year loan on a new box.

Yes, I dont think they will ask for an Ultra 7 265 to be mininum requirements, it will likely be a 8th or 9th gen i5-i7 or ryzen 1700 right now.
