Hello everybody!
I'm currently using SyncTerm under windows and it works ok. I wonder
what other options are? What do you guys use?
I use icyterm. Most of the bugs have been taken out and it supports
the combination of ssh and iemsi login on my bbs (ssh to shsbbs.net
with a login of bbs and password of shsbbs, then log in normally or
use iemsi login parameters in icyterm).

Syncterm under Linux mostly, but I may on occasion use Qodem. I've
also used under particular circumstances, plain SSH or telnet.
I've been using NetRunner. I tried SyncTerm and found that I liked
the way NetRunner looked more. Features wise they both offered what I
was looking for, so for me it came down to aesthetics. If you're
wanting to try it you can snag it from mysticbbs.com.

I'm on Mac more than Windows, I also use SyncTerm quite often but
slowly switching to IcyTerm as I don't find the latest version of
SyncTerm stable (I'm still on 1.1 if I use it), and IcyTerm just
fucking rocks!
I think it should be available for Windows too, if so, try it.

I don't know what the acronym stands for, but it's a method of a
system and user to identify eachother without any interaction. It
sends my name, location and BBS info (as I have it configured) and
send me the users name, location and terminal info (as they have it configured) for really fast logins. I'm not sure if it has other purposes, but EleBBS supports it by default. It can even let users
log in new if they don't have an accout.

Neat - I was a Renegade guy in the 90s and just hadn't heard of it. I'll hav to p0ke around an EleBBS or two and try using iemsi with icy_term. Coolio!!

I like Netrunner. If you have a high res screen 1k - 4k. It scales
it beautifully. Also I run linux and its precompiled so I don't have
to mess around with it.

If you are a macOS (or iOS) user you should take a peak at MuffinTerm (on both app stores). I am just getting back into the hobby and wasn't happy with the state of compatibility of the common ones (NetRunner, SyncTerm) in macOS.
I fell upon this accidentally with a BBS search. It is gorgeous, intuitive, has some retro vibes and drastically simplifies file downloads.

I'd second this. Been using it a while now.

one feature i asked her to look into adding was the ability to click on links and have them load up your browser. that is just about the only missing feature that id like to have.

One thing that all of are missing is whatever netrunner has to smooth everything out.

Actually, netrunner doesn't support my ssh connection. ssh://bbs:shsbbs@shsbbs.net. It doesn't seem to support normal linux ssh connections, only bbs ones.

It's because it uses cryptlib, which uses obsolete algorithms. You have to set your ssh daemon to accept obsolete algorithms to make it work.
Syncterm also uses cryptlib, but I believe it is patched to make it work with newer algorithms.

I didn't know this about Netrunner. What terminal program would you recommend for Windows users?

As I type this, I'm connected to my board via ssh using netrunner. I've
not had any problems (that I can tell!) Mystic BBS v1.12 A49 compiled 2023/04/30 14:52:52 and Netrunner v2.00 Beta 21.
I saw your post about this right after I posted my comment. I guess we really aren't communicating "instantaneously!"As I type this, I'm connected to my board via ssh using netrunner. I've

Yeah, you're using cryptlib with mystic, not a normal linux SSH connection.
I tried adding:
Ciphers +3des-cbc,aes128-cbc,aes192-cbd,aes256-cbc
to sshd_config
ssh -Q cipher shows them listed as such:
3des-cbc
aes128-cbc
aes192-cbc
aes256-cbc
aes128-ctr
aes192-ctr
aes256-ctr
aes128-gcm@openssh.com
aes256-gcm@openssh.com
chacha20-poly1305@openssh.com
But that didn't help. Netrunner is still refusing to connect. It
doesn't even give me an error, it just times out.
