Hello. My name is Bill Kochman (obviously). I just discovered this
board.
Regarding myself, I have been a BBS SysOp since 1993. During most of
this time, I have run Hermes II software. I have put my board online,
and taken it offline again, four times since 1993. Several weeks ago,
I put it back online for the 5th time, and I am serious about keeping
it up, because I have invest so much time and work into it.
I am currently an early pioneer in using Hermes 4 BBS software on a M2
Max Silicon Mac running Golden Gate. I have been communicating with
and working very closely with Will Price, who is the original developer of
the Hermes BBS software. I have been working on my resurrected board
since that time three weeks ago. My board also has a companion website
??? Armageddon BBS ??? with a web portal to the actual BBS.
Along with Will Price, I am just trying to do my part to help keep
vintage Macintosh BBSing alive, being as it seems that there are so
few people left who are interested in doing so.
My friends, BBSing is a part of our shared online history. Before
there was the Internet, there was BBSing. We would not be where we are
today without it, so it deserves to be recognized and not forgotten by
the younger generation.
My BBS, along with Will's BBS, and very few others, are simply trying
to keep the Hermes BBS tradition alive.
