Hi all,
Curious to know if someone has an ANSI Affiliate Advertisement for DoveNet as is commonly found in FTN's?
If not, would it be ok if I request from a
couple of ANSI groups on Discord? I like to have each FTN/QWK's ANSI load when a user jumps to the FTN/QWK's message group, along with any posting rules that may differ from the rest (such as FidoNet requiring real names ..)
I have one for weednet, not DevNet, and not DoveNet .. I'd appreciate any pointing in the right direction.
Also FYI: FidoNet doesn't require real names, just most of its public echoes carry a "real name" policy. The network itself has no such policy.

Fun to know I've had this wrong for 30 years, lol

I was about to say the same thing. I could have sworn the policy document made it clear that real names were mandatory, but now I can find no such mention of it one way or the other as I read through it again.
Mandela effect?

I think I just assumed based on what I saw. The policy document hasn't changed in ages, I doubt I read it closely enough back in the day. More like "Everyone is using real names? That must be the rule." Because, in particular back then, I'd always prefer to use my handle if possible.
It's a common misconception. This SYNCHRONET and other
Synchronet-related echoes, for example, have no such rule. The use of
aliases is fine in some echoes.

Rather than try and keep up with which are which, I just force all my
FTN networks to use real name. I can't be bothered with trying to pick through and figure which are which.
I don't recall there ever being an "official ANSI" for DOVE-Net. Might have been some created/published ad-hoc at one time or another however (likely long ago). Would probably be pretty hard to find if they were.
It's a fine idea. Hopefully someone artistic offers something up?

When I had FidoNet, I just set all echos to real name. It seemed a bit pointless these days considering most/some use a fake real names. With all other FTN's and QWK networks I've seen, I just set all echos to alias
people can't pronounce my real name so i've been using a fake name for like 26 years.
