I will definitely not trust a single hdd for backup, at least for the

I've got a Synology NAS at home that I have a script that backs up from
my remote servers (rsync) to local directories on my desktop, then over
to the NAS.
Almost all my projects are on gitlab, github and/or dropbox.
as for file areas - I lost some very oldschool israeli BBS scene files
and i am devistated about it. can only hope for the best in the
future. and backup in more locations. considering even archive.org or
ipfs.
Depending on your connectivity, might be worth cloning your filebases to Amazon AWS S3, Digital Ocean storage or Azure Blob Storage... There are
FUSE links that can cache local to the remote storage. Depending on
your config, wouldn't be too hard to have web links directed at the
storage directly.
One thing I slightly regret is not actively archiving more file areas,
in fact, in the 20+ years of roughneck bbs, in various states, I don't
think I've really configured any file areas for common access. Now it's become nearly impossible to find some of the legacy archive files, in particular DOS utilities and related are much harder to come by.
