Ncurses is an interesting interface with ANSI. Different terminal emulaters show the characters and colors in a different way, and sometimes the ESC key doesn't work, so I have to use 'ctrl + [' .
Different question, Is Midnight Commander relying on NCurses? I found it very unstable under iTerm2 on MacOS. lot of CTRL+L to refresh the damn thing.
I was always blaming Ncurses for that as I found also some different
apps that rely on it and are not always compatible with my still
favorite terminal emulator
the entire purpose of ncurses (besides just making it easier to write textmode apps) is to ask terminfo/termcap how to manage your screen so it works on a wide variety of terminals
that that's gotten messed up is either annoying from the distro side (so i guess apple?) or annoying because you broke it somehow? haha
i kid i kid.. but really, that's a story as old as *nix itself :)
