"The Shadow" was my regular. Never thought about looking for
recordings of it on Youtube. It would come on right after Dr. Demento. God, those were good programs. AFRTS would carry them when I was stationed in Germany 88-92. They ended most of my days activities.
When I lived in Louisville, there was an AM station there that would
sometimes play old episodes of "The Shadow," Alfred Hitchcock, and, I think, Agatha Christie. That was when I was pretty young, but I really enjoyed listening to some of them.
When I was in elementary school, we'd go to the school library once a week.
We were somewhat free as to what we read or did, so long as we didn't make noise or tear stuff up. Well, I found an Alfred Hitchcock record, so I sat down at a listening booth, put on the headphones, and gave it a listen. He
was just getting to the "reveal" of a particularly spooky story when I
suddenly got a tap on my shoulder that nearly made my heart stop!
It was the librarian. My class had left me sitting there.
