Re: TVs

I'm looking at purchasing a tv sometime in the future. What's really out there as in the way of technology? Thanks.
I think there's some cool stuff going on with TVs - and some things that are still in development.
One cool thing I found out about last year was Google TV, which is basically a software package available in some set-top boxes that brings some Android-style Internet connectivity features to your TV (such as reading email, browsing the web, watching Netflix and other streaming services, and streaming music from online sources & media services, and even games). I've heard that some TVs
will come integrated with Google TV so you won't need a separate set-top box (and perhaps some are already shipping).
Another cool thing that just hit the market recently is Intel Wireless Display (WiDi for short). WiDi is a technology that lets you wirelessly output your PC video to a TV. You need a compatible PC (which may just mean buying an expansion card to broadcast your PC video & audio) and a set-top box. I've heard that there will be a couple of TV manufacturers making TVs with a WiDi receiver built-in so you don't need a separate set-top box.

I have a blu-ray player with Google TV, but I think it might be cool to have Google TV built into the TV so that a separate set-top box wouldn't be needed for Google TV.
