Re: The NEW Commodore 64

Hey guys. Yes, I'm new, I introduced myself in general. I was just reading b to December to catch up with the conversation here, and since some of you we talking about how you used to, or still do, own C64s, I thought I'd ask if anyone is aware of their recent rebirth. This guy at
www.commodoreusa.net has bought the rights, and recreated the C6
albeit with modern hardware. So.. you can run Windows 7, but it also has backwards compatibility to run the original programs. What are your thoughts
In the C64 community this is known as an expensive case-mod. You take a Commodore 64 housing and cram a PC motherboard into it. The Commodore brand has changed hands several times, each reincarnation being just a poor
attempt to cash in on those longing for the rebirth of their favorite childhood toy. The current brand is no exception.
commodoreuse.net sells overpriced PC clones in a C64 housing that runs a C64 emulator. That's what you are getting, not some 'new and improved' C64.
Once the initial novelty (and sales) diminish the commodore brand will once again be sold to the next entity looking to make a fast buck.
My first computer was a C64 and I have lots of good memories. Thankfully I have tons of emulators to choose from whenever I want to relive those memories.
If you miss your C64 that much plenty of them available on E-bay and cheaper than a PC that looks like a C64 and runs a C64 emulator.
