Yep, I remember that, but it was mainly because of new C64 users with dumb terminal programs.
I recall getting my hands on one particularly nifty C64 terminal program tha actually emulated 80 characters. At the time, that Commodore was the only computer I had, so I was ecstatic to run across that program. :)

I was in school, programming in an assembler class on a VAX. Dialing up to a VAX with a 80 column C64 terminal program, attached to a 12" black and white TV. Eyestrain city!

Not really - I just read the first few lines if I can and then just write th post off as some flame. Reminds me of the old days of BBS'ing when some systems couldn't stay in lower case. Commodore? MAC? I forget which but it used to happen all the time on my C64 BBS back in the 80's

Ha! To me it was always the Trash-80, even though they tried to change it to the Trash-80 Crap Computer. I loved going to Radio Shack and messing around with the ones they would have on display!

I've got about 5, though 2 of them don't function. A couple of them I purchased for $2 at the local Pawn shop. That was in about 1994 or 95 when they were well on their way out. The problem is, that I only have 1 power brick! I think I might have a second one still at my folks place from ages ago, I hope they haven't thrown that out yet. Also got a disk drive a coupl of the datasette drives. There is a Vic20 in the collection too.
However, I don't have them set up ready to use, just taking up space.

I was hooked on the game SkyBlazer for the Vic 20 back when I had one in 199 Great computer, one of the best I've ever used.
Do you remember the Commodore Pet 2001? We first used that in elementary school. It was a 1 piece system similar to the Radio Shack TRS-80 models.

I used a variety of PET[1]s in high school. They had some models with a whopping 32k of RAM, real keyboard, and 80 column screen. 2 140k floppies us that weird IEEE bus, and an add-on chip that did cool graphics.
