Setup Guide for QWKNet (Synchronet Systems) Originally by Frank Linhares (Netsurge)
This guide is to be used by sysops BBS Sysops Consortium via
Synchronet's built in QWKNet network transfer
TSE BBS only supports QWKNet.
1. You will need to log in to tsebbs.com as NEW to establish your BBSID
and password.
This account will only be used to configure your BBSID's QWK mail settings.
you need to logon to The Savage Empire BBS (telnet://tsebbs.com) with your
BBSID and password. Once you get to the QWK: prompt you need to hit C
to change the packet configuration to match the following:
QWK Settings:
A) Ctrl-A Color Codes : Leave in
T) Archive Type : ZIP
E) Include E-mail Messages : Un-read Only
I) Include File Attachments : No
D) Delete E-mail Automatically : Yes
F) Include New Files List : No
N) Include Index Files : No
C) Include Control Files : No
H) Include HEADERS.DAT File : No
Y) Include Messages from You : No
Z) Include Time Zone (TZ) : Yes
V) Include Message Path (VIA) : Yes
M) Include Message/Reply IDs : Yes (Synchronet v3.10+)
X) Extended (QWKE) Packet Format : No
2. We need to set your Synchronet system with your BBSID. In scfg go to
Message Options -> BBSID for QWK Packets and set it to the BBSID that you had
established in step 1.
3. Now that you have your QWK settings done, you will have to import
bbscsubs.txt file into your Synchronet system. You do this by going into
scfg -> Message Areas and create a new Message Group called bbscQnet. Next
we are going to import the bbscsubs.txt message group list by choosing
Import Areas -> SUBS.TXT.
4. You might want to change the QWK Tagline for each area located in the
Networking Options of each sub. an example would be From [your bbs] on BBS
Sysops consortium [your bbs' telnet info]
5. Now we need to setup The BBS Consortium as a QWK Hub. In scfg go into the
Networks menu and choose QWK Packet Networks. Choose Network Hubs and
create a new QWK Network Hub and call it BBSCNET. Make sure the settings
for the TSWQNET hub match the following. Remember to replace YOURPASS
with the password that was established in step 1.
Hub System ID BBSCQNET
Pack Command Line %@zip -jD %f %s
Unpack Command Line %@unzip -Coj %f %s -d %g
Call-out Command Line *qnet-ftp %s tsebs.com YOURPASS
Call-out Node 4
Call-out Days All
Call-out Frequency 24 times a day
6. Next you are going to link in the The Hobby Shop's message areas.
While still in
the QWK Hub settings menu for BBSCQNET choose Networked Sub-boards.
You will have to go through all of the message areas in the BBS Consortium's
Message Group and set the Conference Number on Hub for each area to match
the following:
General Discussions 8518
Ads Spread the Word 8519
Critical Issues 8520
Assistace 8521
Old School Software 8522
The Future is Now! 8523
Software Packages 8524
BBSC Tips 8525
Board Members Round Table 8526
Once you have everything setup, post a message in the "Assistance" echo to make sure that the connection is up and running. You should start to see mail
flow in and out after about an hour.
Feel free and I encourage you to log on to tsebbs.com to contact me for any assistance you may need.
